Thank you to all who responded so quickly!
My apologies if it sounded like I was implying
the Savage is a high maintenance bike. Any mention
of oil leaks, backfiring, or loss of power, always
reminds me of this '70s model Suzuki GT185 I once
owned; it was constantly in the shop and never did
run right. On the bright side, if I do get a
Savage and run into any problems, its nice to
know I have someplace where I can get help
and probably fix it myself.
This morning I went back down to look at
the Savage again and discuss details. I discovered
that the prior arrangement had changed. The owner
said that they weren't going to give me the $400
in accessories. And as for the $800 they were giving
me for my bike on trade, it was going to be issued
as store credit! I said no thanks. I'll find
another dealer.
Good news, the instructor for the motorcycle
training course finally called me back and
I'm planning on starting that March 2nd.
From the responses I've read, I'm thinking that
I should hold on to the VStar until I complete the
course to see if I'm still terrified of this bike.
If I am, (I'm guessing I will be)then I'll just
sell the VStar at a decent price and try to find a
good deal on a Savage.
BTW, this is a great board - I'm tempted to buy
the Savage just so I can be a part of this
friendly group of folks!
Thanks again,
Ann
